Treadmill Finish Line

God gave me insight one day during my routine.
I like to walk on my treadmill when I work. Movement has always helped me think and keeps me focused. On this day, however it struck me that my movement on the treadmill got me nowhere.
I was essentially wearing myself out with nothing to show for it (in distance or change). This struck me about life. We are often so busy and work so hard at all the tasks we set before us. Often, they are repeated tasks and, if we’re honest, they’ve lost their meaning. Rendering them ineffective.
This thought made me evaluate all my normal tasks. I asked these questions:
1. Why do I do this?
2. Does it get me closer to my goals?
3. Does it fall in my priorities?
4. Should I keep it, lose it, or change it?
Take some time to do the same thing with every routine in your life. Start making a list today of all the things you do on a regular basis. Take that list the next day or when you have a couple hours and start putting each of those routines through these questions.
You will find more time in your schedule and more purpose in your day when it’s done. Your steps will also take you somewhere, instead of a treadmill motion with no progress.
This is so true. How many times do we continue to do the same thing over and over and expect different results? Thank you for giving me a plan to re-evaluate things in my daily routine.
