The Onion State

Just a moment to be real. I want to let you know that if you feel like you’re stuck or there is no movement in your life no matter how hard you try, how much you pray, or how hard you work.

• You’re not alone!

This post is simply an encouragement that those might be the best moments of your life if you dig in.

• The frantic searching for purpose and direction can leave our hearts at their best time to receive inspiration, if we let them.

Think about it. You are in such a desperate state, such a vulnerable and honest place, you are ready to receive, but you have to be honest and stop striving.

I found myself in one of those moments recently. In fact, I am fully immersed in this moment as I write this. Here, I have found that once I allowed God to have all control, every day a new layer was pulled back.

It was like I had an onion. Each and every day a new truth was revealed, and I couldn’t help but point and gasp at each revelation. My encouragement?

• Take the onion from God, and trust Him. He will daily or even hourly peel back layers for you as you let go and trust Him.

How do you get there?

• Be hungry, be empty, be honest.

Be honest with God about how you feel and let everything out. He already knows what you’re thinking, you’re not going to hurt His feelings by saying you’re sad or lonely. Just say it! Then rest. Allow Him to use the beautiful fragile place you find yourself in to reveal new things to you.

You’ll love the person you will become moment by moment as you use your life as a proving ground for His work.
